The announcement of Jesus’ birth has inspired countless composers throughout the centuries to create some of the most beautiful music ever written. The Leuven University Choir invites you on a musical journey through time, from the 16th century to today, featuring enchanting a cappella choral works centered around the Great Mystery.
Three very different interpretations of O Magnum Mysterium form the connecting thread in the first part of the Christmas program. From the restrained sounds of the Renaissance to the modern tonal world of the 21st century, each piece offers its own unique reflection on the wonder of that great miracle.
After the intermission, the music takes on a different tone. Today, Christmas is not only about the birth of Christ but also about warmth, togetherness and joy. The LUK presents a festive second part with well-known Christmas carols in swinging, moving and surprising arrangements.
